Privacy Policy

The short version

Perfect Scan has no accounts, no login and no cloud library. The documents you scan are stored only on your iPhone. When you use AI enhancement, the cropped page image is sent to our enhancement service for processing and deleted as soon as the result is returned.

What stays on your iPhone

• Every document you save, including originals, enhanced pages and thumbnails.
• Recognized text (OCR) used for naming and search. Text recognition runs on-device using Apple's Vision framework.
• Page detection, cropping, perspective correction and on-device cleanup.
• Your settings and your free-scan count.

Deleting the app deletes all of this. Your iPhone's own backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) may include app data according to your device settings; that is your backup, not a Perfect Scan service.

AI enhancement (external processing)

When Automatic Enhancement is on, or when you choose Reprocess or Restore with AI, Perfect Scan sends the cropped page image to the Perfect Scan enhancement service over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.

• What is uploaded: the cropped page image only. No document titles, OCR text, location, contacts or identifiers.
• Why: to remove wrinkles, flatten curved pages, remove shadows and, when necessary, restore damaged areas using an AI image model.
• How it is processed: our server forwards the image to an AI model hosting provider (currently fal.ai) inside the request and returns the result to your phone.
• Retention: our server processes the image in memory and does not store it. The processing provider retains inputs and outputs only as long as needed to complete the request under its own privacy terms. We do not use your images to train models.
• Your choice: turn off Automatic Enhancement in Settings to keep every step on-device. Pages are still detected, cropped, straightened and cleaned up locally.

AI-restored pages

If AI reconstructs or generates any part of a page, that page is permanently labeled "AI Restored by Perfect Scan". The label is part of the image and appears in every export.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple through In-App Purchase. We receive no payment details. Apple's privacy policy applies to the transaction.

Analytics and tracking

Perfect Scan does not include third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

Children

Perfect Scan is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your images are processed, the app will show the updated disclosure before external processing is used.
